Effie on the Other Side of the Gun is a narrated short that gives a glimpse into the life of Effie Childs. We are taken back to the 1950’s and come to understand Effie’s struggles as a woman and wife in a small Alabama town. As the film opens, Effie is at a standoff with a mob of men looking for justice after the death of a local store owner. Her determination to foil the mobs’ lynching plan forces her to stand her ground not in an act of desperation but rather reflection on the events that led to this tense showdown.
