Starring
Lily Maryon as Hannah More
A
girl born into poverty meets a rich man only to be jilted 3 times,
finally at the church so he pays her compensation for her dashed hopes
which enables her to become a playwright in London's theatres,
eventually becoming a powerful and influential woman.
I believe the film is relevant to today with hundreds of immigrants
crossing over the channel from France (as they did in the 18th C), and
modern day slavery. It highlights the plight of women in the 18th
century. Hannah More was a member of the Blue Stocking Club, the
forerunner of the Feminist Movement in the UK.
The musical score was composed especially for the film by Liz Muir.
